The Monnig Meteorite Gallery welcomes the young and the young at heart. We offer educational opportunities for adults both on and off the TCU campus.
The Monnig staff offer a number of lectures that cover a range of Solar System topics, from meteorite identification to the latest in planetary science research. Please contact Dr. Mayne directly for more information about requesting a speaker from the Monnig Meteorite Collection and Gallery.
When Oscar Monnig died in 1999, a considerable amount of money was given to the Geology Department at TCU from his estate with the purpose of maintaining the collection. On Saturday, February 1, 2003, the Oscar Monnig Meteorite Gallery was opened for the public. With about 10% of the best meteorites in the collection on display, this is a world class facility. The gallery is located in the Sid Richardson Science Building on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
